Specialized Wound Care at Linwood Meadows Care Center
Wound care is a critical component of post-acute and skilled nursing, especially for individuals recovering from surgery, illness, or chronic conditions. At Linwood Meadows Care Center, we are proud to offer a comprehensive, in-house wound care program in Visalia, California led by members of our experienced skilled nursing team like Navil. This allows us to provide timely, consistent, and highly personalized care without the need for outside appointments or delays that can occur at other skilled nursing facilities.
Having a dedicated wound care nurse on-site means that residents benefit from continuous monitoring, faster response times, and treatment plans that evolve in real time. It also ensures close collaboration between our skilled nursing team, physicians, and families, which is a priority for Navil every day.
A Day in the Life of a Wound Care Nurse in Visalia, CA

Navil, who has been part of the Linwood Meadows skilled nursing team in Visalia, CA for four years, describes her role as both dynamic and deeply rewarding. She says her day-to-day responsibilities go far beyond basic treatment.
“A typical day is wound care treatments, charting on old and new skin issues, updating family and doctors of any new or change in wounds,” she says. “I evaluate new admissions, re-evaluate existing skin issues, and adjust treatment orders as wounds change.”
Her work also includes educating both residents and staff. From teaching residents how to support their own healing to guiding CNAs and nurses on best practices, Navil ensures that everyone involved in a resident’s care is aligned and informed. She also helps coordinate the use of specialized equipment such as air mattresses, wheelchair cushions, and off-loading heel protectors, all tools that are essential for both healing and prevention.
A Passion for Wound Recovery
What sets Navil apart is not just her expertise, but her genuine passion for wound recovery and care. For her, this specialty is more to her than just a job. It’s not lost on her that her role in our skilled nursing team is critical in the recovery of many patients at Linwood Meadows Care Center.
“My favorite thing about my job is watching the wounds heal,” she shares. “Seeing the progress from one day to another, in such a short time.”
She also embraces the challenges that come with more complex cases. “I enjoy difficult wounds. Non-healing wounds, chronic wounds, wounds with necrotic tissue or heavy drainage.” To Navil, the more challenging the wound, the greater the opportunity to help her patients, and the greater the effect of her work will be.
This commitment to continuous improvement is a cornerstone of our in-house wound care program. Navil is always looking for new ways to enhance healing outcomes and tailoring treatments to meet each resident’s unique needs. Her proactive approach often allows her to identify potential skin issues early, before they become more serious concerns.
Making Wound Management Comfortable
Wound management can be uncomfortable, and in some cases, painful. That’s why Navil works closely with our interdisciplinary skilled nursing team to ensure residents remain as comfortable as possible throughout their treatment.
“I work with the floor nurses and CNAs to make sure we are doing everything possible to keep the resident comfortable,” she explains.
This collaborative, resident-centered approach is what defines care at Linwood Meadows. By combining clinical expertise with compassion, we are able to deliver not only effective treatment, but also peace of mind for residents and their families.
Dedicated to our Patients
Navil knew early in her nursing career that wound care was her path. Today, that dedication shines through in every aspect of her work as a wound care nurse. Her skill, attention to detail, and passion for healing are invaluable to our skilled nursing team, and more importantly, to the residents we serve.
At Linwood Meadows Care Center, our in-house wound care program is just one of the many ways we go above and beyond to provide high-quality, personalized care. With professionals like Navil Muñoz leading the way, our residents are in expert hands every step of the healing journey.
